About us

We are, Debbie Clark and Helen Meehan

We have enjoyed working successfully as practitioners supporting children, adolescents, parents, and families for over 20 years.

Our careers span across all settings including mainstream and SEND schools and Colleges, The Youth Support Service, Youth Justice and Social Care. This vast experience means that we can provide balanced, intuitive, and timely support.

We are competent and knowledgeable in supporting both neuro typical and neuro diverse children and young people.

We are also experienced in working with parents and their children who are experiencing attachment dificulties and trauma.

Our practice is endorsed by the Professional Statutory body, National Youth Association and professionally approved by the Education Training Standards Committee.

After working with parents and providing strategies on a one to one basis for many years, we realised there was a clear need for a programme to address challenging behaviours. Although many parenting programmes existed, they required the children and young people to be cooperative. In our experience, most children and young people who were out of parental control and exhibiting challenging behaviours, did not want to change or comply and these programmes were unsuccessful.

When we came across the “Who’s In Charge” programme, we realised this was the programme that could support those parents other courses hadn’t worked for. This was confirmed after delivering the programme and seeing families achieve successful outcomes.

We then felt it important to help more families by offering the “Who’s In Charge” course out to the wider community and Help The Parent was born.
